“Real Food” Food Revolution Update!!

On May 19th, the Friday Night Dinner group will be getting together to take part in Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution Day. The idea behind this day is to be using “real foods” in the dishes we make. The official website for this event is http://www.foodrevolutionday.com/, and a video Jamie Oliver made about it can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6nDtr0mgco&feature=share.

Taylor and I will be going to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning to pick up some of the “real” ingredients we’ll be using in our dishes.

We brainstormed and came up with some ideas for dishes to make:
A salad using in season fruits and vegetables
Caribbean Rice
Salsa/guacamole & chips
Biscotti/Strawberry shortcake
Jerk Chicken
Pizza Scones

We would love if you could make some of the dishes. Taylor, Mary and I will be cooking at my house on Sunday, so if you are interested in cooking with us, let me know!

If you are planning on attending, please let us know so we know how much food to make 🙂 Invite anyone you think might be interested in coming! If there are any dietary concerns (vegetarian, gluten intolerance, etc.) please let us know.

We will be holding the event at the Amphitheatre at Washington Park on Saturday the 19th at 5:00pm. Come whenever you can! We will probably just be hanging out for a little and then eating around 6:30-7:00.

Hope to see you all there 🙂
